6:00 a.m. – Departure from Juan Dolio
Early pickup to take advantage of the prime birdwatching hours. Enjoy a scenic drive through coastal and rural Dominican landscapes.
8:00 a.m. – Arrival at Los Haitises National Park
Meet your certified nature and birding guide for a short orientation on the park’s biodiversity and the day’s activities. Begin a boat ride through the mangrove channels and dramatic limestone formations.
9:00 a.m. – Birdwatching Tour
With expert guidance, search for iconic species such as the critically endangered Ridgway’s Hawk, white-crowned pigeons, Hispaniolan woodpeckers, broad-billed todies, Antillean piculets, Caribbean elaenias, brown pelicans, and magnificent frigatebirds, among others.
11:30 a.m. – Guided Nature Walk
Explore the humid tropical forest on foot along ecological trails, with interpretive stops to learn more about native plants, wildlife, and ecological processes.
12:30 p.m. – Traditional Dominican Lunch
Enjoy a homemade meal at a coastal eco-lodge or natural picnic area within the park. Vegetarian options are available.
2:00 p.m. – Free Time
Take time to relax, photograph wildlife, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
3:00 p.m. – Return to Juan Dolio
Private or group transfer back to your accommodation, with an estimated arrival at 5:00 p.m.
